Below is our Rental Agreement. This applies to all rental items at Hypnos Video.

You will always be asked to read and accept these before paying for rental items at Hypnos Video. By marking the box below, you agree to the following terms of this rental agreement.

1. CONTRACT

By renting an item at Hypnos Video, you are entering a legally binding contract between yourself and Hypnos Video.

The terms on this page are specific to the rental of an item from Hypnos Video.

2. CHANGES TO THE RENTAL AGREEMENT

Hypnos Video reserves the right to change the Rental Agreement and/or rental partners’ terms at any time, so it is important you review and accept them each time you rent at Hypnos Video.

The terms that apply to a rental item will be in accordance with the Rental Agreement signed when the rental occurred.

3. PAYMENT

By entering this agreement, you authorize Hypnos Video to charge the selected payment method according to the terms outlined in this agreement. You certify that you are authorized to use this credit card/account and you agree not to dispute the payment with your provider if Hypnos Video fulfills its responsibilities in providing the rental item(s).

You also authorize Hypnos Video to charge the supplied payment method for any additional fees as outlined in this agreement (such as damages or failure to return the item within the time frame outlined below). If a charge against the supplied payment method cannot be made, we will provide you with an invoice for the fees which you agree to pay within 30 days.

Hypnos Video reserves the right to take all steps necessary to recoup any amounts owing as per this agreement, including the use of debt collection agencies and taking legal action. This may increase the amount owed by the customer, to cover the costs of these services.

4. IDENTIFICATION

Hypnos Video requires that the customer provide identification before an item may be rented. The following are acceptable forms of identification: passport, driver’s license or other official forms of identification. If this isn’t provided, Hyonos Video reserves the right to refuse the rental.

5. PROPERTY OF RENTAL ITEMS

At all times, the rental items are and remain the property of Hypnos Video. Hypnos Video reserves the right to retrieve the item at any time.

6. RENTAL TERMS

The following actions will be taken by Hypnos Video to ensure that the items belonging to Hypnos Video are available.

A. Video rentals, including VHS, DVD, Blu-ray, 4K UHD. 

After 7 days, the customer may be contacted using the contact information provided if a second customer requests the item. The message issued to the original customer is a friendly reminder (unenforceable and without penalty), issued as a courtesy to the second customer.

After 30 days, friendly reminder(s) will automatically be sent to any rental customer who has not returned an item. 

After 180 days, an invoice in the amount no less than the Recommended Retail Price (RRP) or current market price for out-of-print items, will be issued to the customer for unreturned item(s). The customer has 30 days to pay this invoice or return the item or its equivalent. Hypnos Video reserves the right to accept or refuse any item submitted as an equivalent. 

You are liable for up to 200% of the RRP or current market price of an item that is lost or not returned. Some of the rental items available at Hypnos Video are out-of-print, rare, a unique part of a larger collection or even irreplaceable. The amount of your liability is intended to reduce the risk that a customer rents an item and claims it as lost in order to keep the item for themselves. Hypnos Video will make every effort to minimize the amount invoiced to you, while discouraging this type of customer and ensuring that the title is returned to the inventory.

B. Playback equipment rentals, including VHS, DVD, Blu-ray, 4K UHD players. 

A fully-refundable deposit of no less than 500 SEK is required. Hypnos Video will refund this amount in full when the item is returned in working condition.

The rental period for video playback equipment is 5 days. A reminder message will be sent to the customer on day 5. If the customer has not contacted Hypnos Video and received from Hypnos Video an explicit statement waiving the late fee, a late fee of 20 SEK / day will be applied beginning on day 6..

After day 10, Hypnos Video will send a friendly reminder message.

When the total amount of the deposit plus late fees cover 120% of the cost of replacing the equipment, you will receive an invoice for the balance of the late fees. You must pay the invoice in full within 15 days and return the item in working condition for a full refund of the deposit. Equivalent items will be considered, and Hypnos Video reserves the right to accept or refuse any item submitted as an equivalent. Hypnos Video has an inventory of video playback equipment that is expensive and not easily replaced.

Playback equipment will be tested prior to the rental and when the item is returned before the deposit is refunded. If any item does not work at the customer’s home, the customer should contact Hypnos Video immediately. We strive to be as helpful as possible.

7. VIDEO FORMATS

Hypnos Video wants to ensure that the customer will be able to play a rental item at home. Hypnos Video’s inventory includes format and region-specific items. Hypnos Video will clearly state the format and restrictions applicable to a rental item prior to taking payment. Having read and agreed to these terms, the customer is expected to know the following specifications. 

A VHS may be either PAL (Europe, World) and NTSC (USA) and these can only be played on the format specific VCR. 

A DVD player is required to play a DVD. DVDs are often locked to a specific region (1,2,3) and not all DVD players are capable of playing all DVDs. DVD players bought and sold in Europe, unless modified, are capable of playing Region 2.

A Blu-ray player is able to play DVDs and is required to play Blu-ray discs. Blu-rays can be region-free (playable in all Blu-ray players) but they are often locked to a specific region (A,B,C). Blu-ray players bought and sold in Europe, unless modified, are capable of playing Region B. 4K UHD disks are region-free but will only play on 4K UHD players and require a 4K compatible television and HDMI cable. 

Hypnos Video will always strive to primarily stock Region 2 / B or Region-free items. However, in some cases an item will be locked to Region 1 / A. Hypnos Video has an inventory of Region-free players and VHS players available to rent.  

8. DAMAGED OR FAULTY ITEMS

If you find that the item is damaged, faulty or has noticeable marks that were not noted by Hypnos Video, please take photos and send a message to Hypnos Video immediately and prior to using the item.

If you don’t let us know it will not be clear when the damage was caused or by whom and Hypnos Video may assume that you caused the damage. We reserve the right to issue you an invoice up to 120% of the  RRP or current market price to cover the cost of replacing the damaged item. You should contact us even if you believe you will still use the item, so that you won’t be blamed for the damage or charged damage fees.

You acknowledge that the items are not brand new and may have some signs of use. 

If you damage a rental item, do not attempt to repair it. If it can be easily repaired (e.g. wash) it will be taken care of at no additional cost to you.

You agree that under no circumstances will you attempt to repair the rental item(s) yourself, or have them repaired by anyone else. Do not alter any item rented at Hypnos Video.

If a deposit was provided, it will first be used to cover damages. If the cost of damages exceeds the deposit amount you will be liable for the balance of the cost to restore or replace the item. In the case the item cannot be restored to a suitable condition, the fee charged may be up to, but not more than, 120% of the original RRP or current market price of the item. This amount will be in addition to the amount paid for the rental. Regardless of the amount of damage, the item must be returned to Hypnos Video.

9. CLEANING

Small accidents happen. We sanitize all items when they are returned after your rental. There will be no fees charged as long as marks can be removed.

10. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

By accepting the rental agreement, you agree that Hypnos Video will not be liable for any loss, damage, costs or expenses of an indirect or consequential nature incurred or suffered by you as a result of an issue with the performance or quality of a rental item. This includes but is not limited to economic loss, loss of goodwill, emotional suffering, loss of opportunity or other loss of turnover, profits or business. The rental items are strictly limited to home-use only. Unless other explicit permissions have been granted to you by the copyrightholder, no public use of these rental items is permitted.    

11. DATA STORAGE AND PRIVACY

The information you share below will only used by Hypnos Video. It will never shared with any third party without your express consent which Hypnos Video acknowledges that you have not provided here. Hypnos Video will only use the information you provide to contact you in accordance with the terms of this agreement, its timetables and terms. Your data will be stored collected and stored
